About Me

Cheerio! I'm MK
You know those movies where the main character, a young woman, just really loves long walks through the forest/meadow/countryside, dreaming lots of lovely dreams, and inevitably learns a lot about herself and that she has been wildly capable all along? Yes, well, plot twist: it's me. I'm that girl. The girl who grew up painting rocks, knitting potholders, sewing her old jeans into little purses, and basically loving everything whimsical. And now, as a wife and mom in her 30s, I use that same love for creating (and copious amounts of black coffee) to make my art.
My journey began in 2017, as a calligrapher working weddings and events. I tried my hand at products and the craft fair circuit, which I genuinely loathed-- it just wasn't for me. LOVE attending them. Hate being in them. I digress. I pivoted in 2019 to brand, web, and graphic design, creating brands for small businesses all over the country. I absolutely loved this time in my career journey, working with all my incredible clients to bring them branding they loved!

Cut to 2022, my son was several months old and I felt the pull to set my business on a shelf so that I could be fully present and raise my sweet boy. No surprise to anyone, I couldn't just not create, ya know? So as my son got a little older, I took time to slow down and rediscover art and my style. During that time of self-discoveryl, my son was diagnosed with Level 2 Autism. As you can imagine, our lives changed pretty drastically as we faced the realities of our present and future as a family. Everything stopped so that we could focus fully on our son--getting him the care and resources he needed. We are still deep in this Autism journey, doing everything we can for him to be a happy and healthy, independent little boy. You'll see I now make art (and some resources) for Autism advocacy.
Somewhere in the midst of all this, I started my Etsy shop and Patreon as an outlet for my creativity. I still don't know how exactly it happened (I may have blacked out for a bit there), but I truly love running these two shops. I take things slowly, doing what I can when I can, as I am the primary caregiver for our son. So no, I can't post everyday, spend hours making content videos, cultivate 30 listings a month, or pump out art at the rate that others do. It's pretty slow going, and I am at peace with that for now. I'm doing what I can do, and that's alright with me for now. So welcome, my friend, to this lovely little walk though the forest that is my art journey. I hope you follow along!

I believe that my son has the right to be in every room just as everyone else. I believe that there needs to be more simple accommodations made in our society for the vast amount of autism families can feel accepted, seen, and valued. I believe we, the autism moms and dads, tend to be the ones who fight for these changes and supports. I believe in advocating for my son in whatever way he needs me to. I believe Jesus loves my son just as much as He loves me, and He is with us in this journey! Become an autism advocate and help accept people with autism in everyday life!
